Areas of Natural Beauty

The whole of the Yorkshire Dales National Park is an area of stunning natural beauty. Here are a few favourites.

  West Burton Cauldron Falls

A beautiful sight in any season. Watch the summer sun glisten on the pools below or watch in awe at the power of the falls thundering down in winter. All this from the doorstep!

  Aysgarth Falls

The falls are definitely worth a visit. A natural beautiful sight. Walk around the falls and take a look in the visitors centre. Maybe finish off in one of the tearooms? A nice day for all ages!  (1.5 miles)

 Hardraw Force

As I mentioned before this waterfall can be reached on foot from Hawes if you fancy the walk. At Hardraw village you will see The Green Dragon Inn. Hardraw Force is set within the grounds of this historical public house. Visitors have to go through the pub and out the back to start on the path to the waterfall. There may be a small charge to help with the upkeep of the path and grounds. This is another fun day for all ages! If you have got children and the weather is good why not take a towel and do a bit of paddling? (11.5 miles)

 Harmby Waterfall

Lovely waterfall, only 2 mins from the road. Easiest way to find it is coming from Leyburn turn right off the main road where the signpost says Harmby 1/4 mile and the entrance is about 50 yards on the left. There is a signpost. A hidden gem! (9 miles)

 Semer Water

The second largest lake in North Yorkshire! This is another hidden gem. It is such a tranquil and peaceful place with spectacular views as you drive down to the lake. A must see! If you fancy some water sports semer water has a range of activities on offer! Fishing is also popular here.(9 miles)

 Buttertubs Pass

The Buttertubs Pass is a high road near Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales.  On this road you can see 20 metre deep limestone potholes called the Buttertubs. It is said that the name of the potholes came from the times when farmers would rest there on their way to market. During hot weather they would lower the butter they had produced into the potholes to keep it cool.

The road is locally noted as a challenging cycle climb, and featured as the second of three King of the Mountains climbs in Stage One of the 2014 Tour de France. (14.5 miles)
